Carbon credit conversations usually start with an over-estimate. A plantation of a few thousand trees sounds significant and generates very little verifiable credit once permanence, additionality, monitoring cost and buffer requirements are applied. An advisory service that tells a client this in the first meeting is worth more than one that begins with registration fees.
Where the pathway does work, the requirements are demanding: a defensible baseline, additionality that survives scrutiny, long-term permanence commitments, and a monitoring, reporting and verification regime that runs for the crediting period. Most of that is documentation discipline rather than horticulture.

Method
Plant library
Each entry carries mature size, spacing, water demand, planting window and the maintenance cycle it commits you to.
Terminalia arjuna
A large, buttressed native with smooth pale bark and a spreading canopy — the best avenue tree for moist alignments, riverbanks and canal-side roads.
Syzygium cumini
A dense evergreen native that holds its canopy through the hot season and supports serious urban bird life — Delhi’s classic avenue tree, with one fruit-stain caveat.
Azadirachta indica
The most reliable avenue tree in India: evergreen shade, extreme drought tolerance, no serious pest problems and roots that behave near pavement.
Ficus religiosa
A vast, long-lived sacred fig with unmatched canopy and biodiversity value — and roots aggressive enough that placement is a structural decision, not a landscape one.
In principle yes, but the bar is high: additionality, a defensible baseline, long-term permanence, and monitoring and verification over the crediting period. Small plantations rarely clear it economically, and are often better reported as ESG and CSR outcomes.
Existing land use, existing vegetation and biomass, boundaries and ownership, with dated photographic evidence. If the baseline is not captured before intervention, it cannot be reconstructed afterwards.
It depends on species, growth rate, survival and time horizon far more than on the planting count. A smaller planting with 90% survival and a thirty-year horizon outperforms a much larger one with 40% survival, which is why survival management is the real variable.
